French Artist Projects OUT Onto Las Vegas Trump Hotel
Joanie Lemercier says he rented a room opposite Trump International Hotel Las Vegas and projected OUT beside the TRUMP sign from about 200 meters away.

French visual artist Joanie Lemercier posted images on Tuesday showing the word OUT projected beside the TRUMP sign on Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, timed to the U.S. midterm elections, according to his account on X and reporting by IBTimes UK, TF1 Info, Le Parisien and NDTV.
How Lemercier described the setup
In a Nov. 4 post on X (early Wednesday UTC, still Tuesday in U.S. Pacific time on election day), Lemercier wrote that the projection was on “Trump tower, Las Vegas, Nevada.” He said a team rented a room opposite the building weeks earlier and used a bright projector to show the message from about 200 meters away. TF1 Info described the display as a laser projection of OUT on the Las Vegas tower; Le Parisien, citing Lemercier, said a portable battery-powered projector was used from a hotel room facing the gold-glass facade.
IBTimes UK reported that the illuminated OUT sat next to the building’s existing TRUMP lettering to read as TRUMP OUT. Lemercier told Le Parisien he added the three letters to signal Trump’s exit from political space, while noting Trump remains president even after Democrats regained congressional power in the Nov. 3 midterms.
Timing and prior work
Lemercier said he released the images on midterm election day because the vote would have a deep impact on international politics. Le Parisien reported the operation was prepared over months and that he avoided projecting on election night itself, citing police and traffic risk beneath a roughly 15-meter-high display. NDTV and IBTimes UK said the posts circulated widely after Democrats swept control of both chambers of Congress.
Lemercier, born in 1982 and known for large-scale light installations since 2005, previously designed portable projection systems for environmental campaigns under a project he called Projection Rebellion, including displays at Buckingham Palace and the British Parliament in 2019 with Extinction Rebellion, according to IBTimes UK and Le Parisien.
The images show the Las Vegas Trump International Hotel and Tower, not Trump Tower in New York or other Trump-branded buildings. Claims about who photographed passers-by on the Strip remain social-media anecdotes and are not independently verified here.
