AP Calls Knickerbocker Winner Over Turner in Ohio’s 10th
The Associated Press on Thursday called Democrat Kristina Knickerbocker the winner over 12-term GOP Rep. Mike Turner in Ohio's 10th District.

Ohio’s Dayton-area U.S. House seat flipped to Democrats after the Associated Press on Thursday afternoon called the race for Kristina Knickerbocker over Republican Rep. Mike Turner, WHIO and Dayton 24/7 Now reported. WYSO said the Associated Press waited until about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, nearly two days after Election Day, before making the call on the close contest.
NBC News listed Knickerbocker as the projected winner with 49.3% to Turner’s 47.7%, and Libertarian Thomas McMasters at 2.9%, on a total of 302,016 votes with about 97.5% of expected ballots counted and roughly 8,000 still outstanding. WYSO reported the same vote shares. Dayton 24/7 Now said Turner trailed by about 1.5 percentage points, or just under 5,000 votes, when the Associated Press made the call.
Outstanding ballots in Montgomery County
The Montgomery County Board of Elections told WHIO on Thursday that about 4,400 provisional ballots, about 1,100 absentee ballots and just over 200 military and overseas ballots remained to be counted. NBC News still marked the race as a projected win for Knickerbocker with those ballots outstanding.
Developing: County boards are still processing remaining provisional, absentee and military ballots; final certified margins may shift slightly.
Who Knickerbocker and Turner are
Knickerbocker, a nurse practitioner and U.S. Air Force veteran in her first campaign, declared victory Tuesday night, WYSO reported. Turner, a Republican who had held the seat for 12 terms and previously served as Dayton’s mayor, issued a statement Thursday afternoon wishing her success and urging the community to come together, WHIO and Dayton 24/7 Now reported. WYSO said he had represented the Dayton area in Congress since 2002. Dayton 24/7 Now said Knickerbocker is scheduled to be sworn in Jan. 3, 2027.
