Boebert, Hudson and Luna Locked in House Races Still Too Close to Call
Three well-known Republicans trail or sit in tight contests as counting continues in dozens of uncalled districts.

Several of the most closely watched House races in the country remained uncalled on Wednesday, including contests involving three prominent Republican incumbents, according to the Associated Press, Politico and CBS News.
Democrats have already won control of the House, so these races will not decide the majority. They will determine its size and whether some of the best-known Republicans in Congress return in January.
Colorado’s 4th District
Democrat Eileen Laubacher held a narrow lead over Rep. Lauren Boebert on Wednesday morning, 49.2 percent to 47.7 percent, the AP reported. No winner had been projected.
The district is considered a Republican stronghold. Boebert is seeking a fourth term in Congress. She won reelection by only 546 votes in 2022 in a different district before moving to the 4th.
North Carolina’s 9th District
Rep. Richard Hudson, chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, was in a tight race against Democrat Richard Ojeda, according to Politico and CBS News. The NRCC is the party’s House campaign arm, which makes Hudson’s own contest an especially symbolic one after a night of Republican losses.
Florida’s 13th District
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna faced Democrat Leela Gray in a contest that was still too close to call, Politico and CBS News reported.
Other close contests
CBS News listed more than a dozen other unexpectedly close races, including Arizona’s 1st and 6th districts, California’s 22nd, Colorado’s 5th, Michigan’s 4th and 7th, Montana’s 1st, New York’s 17th, Virginia’s 1st and Washington’s 3rd.
Why it takes time
Many uncalled races are in states that rely heavily on mail ballots. Some states count ballots postmarked by Election Day if they arrive within a set number of days afterward. California, which has 11 uncalled seats, accepts such ballots through Nov. 10 and gives counties until Dec. 3 to finish counting.
As of early Wednesday, the AP had called 228 seats for Democrats and 139 for Republicans, according to Politico and Fox News. BURN VOC will update these races as they are called.
